What does a chemist do?

Chemists study a substance at the atomic and molecular level and analyze how substances interact with each other.

They usually do the following:

• Plan and carry out research projects
• Prepare solutions used in laboratory procedures
• Analyze substances
• Conduct experiments on materials and substances
• Write reports, and
• Present their results to other colleagues.

They use technology and advanced software to study the structure of complicated structures. Usually, chemists work in teams with other chemists and scientists in different fields to accomplish a common task.

Usually, an experiment is carried out by a group of chemists and scientists in other fields.
